Legalizing Same Sex Marriage

Over the year the gay society had battling for equal treatment and the abolishment of discrimination. And now their battle is for the legality of same sex marriage. Although the scoeity had accepted the homosexual existence, still the public is reluctant on the idea that the homosexual couples be wedded in traditional means or the legality of homosexual marriage.. Still the society remains ignorant that marriage is a civil thing and not a religious rite. It’s the marriage we are talking and not wedding.

Marriage is a union due to love, commitment and personal choice. Religious questions should be out of the realm of marriage because the union to be made is the agreement between the two parties and not the agreement of their religious beliefs. Let me reiterate that the question is whether to LEGALIZED the same sex marriage or not, therefore it is the question of the existing laws and the existing social conditions today and not the question of the belief of a certain church. To legalized a same sex marriage is to acknowledge the two individuals with same sex as legal partners in the eyes of law and not in the eyes of church which will be endowed with same legal implications as what as the traditional marriage is enjoying.

The state shall be separated from the church. But what is the basis of throwing down the idea of same sex marriage? Isn’t it the belief of the church? Yes. Because the church’s teaching told so then the government takes it and put it into a law. Where is the supposed separation of the state and the church?

The government may be blinded that they are not compelled to define marriage in the same way the church defines it.  They may be uninformed of what the society needs right. They may be unaware of the reasons that the gay community possess why a same sex marriage should be legalized. Thus, a research that will generate information to quantify the elements of this issue is a must to be conducted.
