Forests provide food, fiber, fuel, building materials and medicine. They give shelter to the wildlife, filter water, prevent erosion, provide natural protection of coral reefs, control pests and contribute in mitigation of climate change by storing and capturing carbon in the atmosphere of the Earth. Forests present the planet’s fastest-disappearing resources of the world-wide nature. Many years ago, two-thirds of the land mass of the Earth was covered by forest. In our days, only half of that area is covered, and mankind constantly loses forests . Remaining forests are often situated in the most sensitive and biological diversity areas, usually in countries with poor protections or small places of preservation, making them as exposed as they are valuable. Many large companies have established sustainable forestry on a global scale, helping to make working forests sustainable.

However, speaking about the preservation, we have to mention that rainforest inhabitants are nothing but destroyers of natural resources through their commercial exploitation of these resources. With the people building homes, practicing agriculture, fishing, hunting and marketing their products from local environment, non-governmental organizations act as police there and are viewed this way by most. As a result, the heaviest projects emerged, usually directed by those, who have non-Amazonian origin, aimed at some actions in the rainforest, which is called “pro-environment” by the communities of environment. Familiar “paper projects” are realized only on appearances and media coverage. Unfortunately, they become usual in the territories of rainforests.

In the present days, significant part of the rainforest is being cut down for lumber and room for farming and cattle. Unfortunately, very few new trees are planted, so in the result, the rainforest is disappearing day by day.

During the recent years, public organizations have worked to administer sustainability into the first priority of economic ventures, modifying destructive system of the markets into engines of sustainable products, consumption, sourcing, equitable trade. They tried to enlist global companies, reach millions of consumers, and capture significant market shares. Experience of past organizations, which do not care about preservation of rainforests, informs their outlook for the 20 years. First aim of their activity, as opposed to non-governmental organizations, is the state of economy and management, when adopting correct and reliable practices will become norm for the business. Thus, such sustainability trends will rapidly become so established as to be literally unstoppable; therefore, using the right methods of revival of economics and correct application of natural resources will lead businessman and economies of locals into a point of no return. In the result, we have mainstream consumers and major corporation’s outlets embracing new sustainable products and practices.

At first, businessman has to optimize sustainable trends, setting strategic benchmarks for his own activities in sustainable forestry, agriculture, tourism and new promising industries in the near future. Meanwhile, establishment of strong system of markets will allow mass markets to continue to globalize and accelerate the trend towards sustainable practices, making sustainability the main point and ground of success. Competent management will help in sustaining and enhancing the livelihoods derived from them. We can present one organization that has success in application of such methods. It was founded in 1993 and named Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). It is a non-commercial organization that sets rigorous standards for proper and faithful forest management and certified many of enterprises in the rainforests. It is also successful in providing control of business activity (Jickling, 2010).

Speaking about the situation of 2007 years, we can state that FSC issued certificates for responsible management in forest for more than 60 countries. There are 1,200 small landowners, community and indigenous owned operations in forests and companies of various sizes, which can be contacted by businessman. Making business in the forests, it is recommended to take into consideration activity of Canadian giants, such as Domtar and Tembec, which manage vast tracts of northern boreal forest to the indigenous people from the Amazon. Thus, they succeed to manage reliable and certified extraction of Brazil nuts from the largest tropical forests (Jickling, 2011).
