Christian Worldview

Every person during his or her lifetime has been asking oneself some essential questions, such as: “Is there God and who is He?”, “Who am I?”, “Why did people come to this world?” and “What is the purpose of human’s life?”

Answers to these questions form every person’s worldview – everyone has particular set of viewpoints about reality which surrounds people, the nature of the world. Everyone’s worldview consists of answers to these significant questions. The most important thing is that these issues determine person’s behavior in each area of life – how the person worships, respects and relates to the world and people around; the way people study, work, use their abilities; how they view sex; whether they get married; the way they treat their spouse and children; how they vote and treat human life; even the way they collide with the death. The worldview is not just the most decisive element of thinking; it is the most decisive element of everyone’s behavior.

According to Tackett (2010), “a worldview is the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world”. “A Christian worldview then, is a comprehensive conception of the world from a Christian standpoint” (Anonymous, 2008).

It will not be possible to wisely talk about God with no solid suggestion of who He is. It is impossible to imagine Christianity without God and knowledge about Him. Who is God? Thinking right about God is of greatest importance, as fake suggestion concerning God is superstition. To begin with, good summary explanation of who God is that He is “the Supreme Being; the Creator and Ruler of all that is; the Self-existent One who is perfect in power, goodness and wisdom” (Anonymous, 2011). People know one God but He exists like three Persons: 1 – God the Father, 2 – God the Son and 3 – God the Holy Spirit. He is unique and infinite. God exists all over the place; He is all-knowing and has all control and power. The Bible reveals some God’s characteristics, such as: God is loving (Ephesians 2:4-5), holy (1 John 1:5), truthful (John 14:6), honest (Psalms 119:130,105) and capable (Psalms 25:3). God judges crime but He also offers mercy. 

Psalm 8 controls the question “What is the human being?”. It is not difficult to understand from the Bible that Jesus was “a partaker of flesh and blood” (Hebrews 2:6-18). From these words people understand, if Jesus is identified to all people, it is a straight answer to the question. 

All breathing belongings, as well as insects, fish and people, pass away. It is not easy, even for older people, to recognize why this happens. It may be one of the hardest things to understand. What will happen when a person dies? According to the Bible, the death is a sleep. A lot of verses tell so. Dead people do not have any thoughts. After death the body returns to the earth, to the dust from which it was made, and people’s thoughts expire. The lifeless body does not recognize anything. In the death, there are no any thoughts, no comprehension, no knowledge, no emotions, no work and definitely no awareness. Death is definitely similar to an extremely deep sleep. When an individual dies, he/she just stays in the grave, where he/she has to remain until the rebirth. Dead people stay neither in paradise nor in hell; they stay just in their graves, where everyone remains till the time they hear the voice of God at the Resurrection. At this time, Bible recognizes death as simply temporary event. Just like a sleeping person finally awakes, everybody will be awakened from the death at the moment of resurrection.

Christians believe that God created all things out of nothing. He did this by the way of giving different commands: “Let it be the light”, “Let it be the water”. All things were created by “the word of His power” (Hebrews 1:3).

Christian worldview is based on the Word of God. All Christian people, if they are real Christians, are to believe in every word written in the Bible. When a person believes that the Bible is entirely true, he or she allows it to be the foundation of everything he or she says and does during the lifetime. Bible was written during the long period of time by God’s pupils. Bible – is the Book of life. 

The best way to know what is right and what is wrong in God’s point of view is to follow His 10 Commandments and keep His Laws. Bible – is a specific instruction how to live the life according to God’s will. Ten Commandments help Christians to orientate in their own life and know what is unacceptable and right to do. If it is not so easy to decide what to do in one or another situation, people should ask the following question: “What would Jesus do?”

Everyone who was born on the Earth has a purpose of life. Everybody was born for a special reason, because God had planned everybody’s life before their birth. It is God’s will. Every person will once end up living in heaven for all eternity. It is a perfect place, with a lot of joy, satisfaction and peace. Christians will be able to come to the paradise, if they are following the God’s will.  

I am seeking to follow Jesus Christ. As God told people in His 10 Commandments, we are to help others. Some people are poor and they do not have enough money to buy food or clothes. In that case I am always ready to help them. All worldviews have something similar between them; for example, the availability of God in all religions. During the lessons my worldview did not change because I am faithful to my beliefs. I am assured that my way is true.
