A. Introduction

Law enforcement professionals need to be up-to-date with the changing trends of law enforcement. This helps them to carry out their tasks efficiently and free from wrangles with institutional establishments. Several methods can be put place to aid efficient law enforcement, for instance, structured training, blended-learning models, proper training on investigative skills; hence, they should be conversant with both steps for survival and survival checklist

(Garner, 2005). Even though law enforcement professionals should be informed of the changing components of law there are various setbacks for example, inadequate training, lack of aggressiveness in search for the dynamic components of law, poor technological development, hiring of many law enforcers, courses taking a shorter period yet they are very technical, and retired professionals providing knowledge to recruits without following a structured process (Glasgow and Lepatski, 2010).

B. Analysis

According to (Glasgow et al., 2010) structured training helps officers develop competency since they are not allowed to proceed to the next level before passing examination. However there are limitations to this program because trainees go the field to apply what they have been taught, this should not be the case, they should be given tests prior to going to the field, and those that pass the test should proceed for field attachment.

Police officers should be conversant with steps for survival and survival checklist for preparing to survive (Garner, 2005). It is imperative for law professionals to avoid the risk of losing his life, according to (Garner, 2005) steps for survival include gathering information first, look and listen without rushing to make conclusions, look for the danger signs, wearing body armor, maintaining a reactionary gap, watching your approach and positioning, avoiding dangerous assumptions, aggressive, contingency plan, very attentive and being optimistic.

The steps for survival have some limitations. For instance, according to Glasgow et al (2010) investigation competency involves note taking, ethical decision making, interrogation and report writing which involves court testimony among others. In cases which the officer does not have adequate skills on investigative methods it leads to low chance of him surviving in the dynamic components of the law. However this can be solved by having structured training which will avoid the chances of officers being on a tight spot while enforcing law hence making him updated with law enforcement issues (Glasgow et al, 2010).

According to McLeod (2009) the law enforcement officers at the marine have to survive the extra changes taking place; hence, appropriate training is pertinent. Even though relevant training is needed in the dynamic components of law, it faces a number of challenges a case in mind is when there are insufficient funds to cater for the extra and appropriate training. It must also be put in mind that appropriate training requires one to have a specialist in that field which in most cases they are scarce. This will make the law enforcement team to be widely versed with the components of law and also prepare them for the unknown situations. Marine Training Branch (MTB) trains rules on navigation which includes: crossing, meeting, overtaking vessels, and sound signals among others (McLeod, 2009). This is vital because they will be well equipped on navigation

Among the ways in which one can keep in track with the dynamic components of law involves taking time to read the latest journals or material about law enforcement. This is an efficient way of understanding how changes are occurring. However this strategy has limitations for example, where there are inadequate stationery; large area of land and most of it being in the remote areas hence they will not be able to get adequate reading materials.

According to Glasgow et al (2010) they state that investigative mechanism have to be standardized so as to tackle the changing aspects of the environment of various geographical areas. Substantial police recruitment is relevant in expansive areas but it is immaterial in areas that have low population. Massive police hiring sometimes is irrelevant because it results unjustifiable career promotion. Blended model of learning is relevant but it faces a number of challenges such as poor internet connection in rural areas; hence they only use classroom model of learning (Glasgow et al., 2010),

C. CONCLUSION

To solve challenges in the components of law measure such as blended method of learning, structured learning method, development of investigative skills program, standardized skills, officers employed should be proportional to size of the area, officers should be knowledgeable on the steps for survival and also conversant with the check-list of preparing to survive in changing times.

D. PERSONAL OPINION

Proper choices should be made while hiring police a case in mind is unbalanced hiring of police officers. This should not be the case because it wastes resources and results in unjustifiable promotions because of large workforce and may also compromise police officers effectiveness. It is satisfactory to embrace technology but in most cases technology is usually not spread out well in a nation, for instance; remote areas lack internet connection. It is not warranted that every officer will effectively put into practice the learnt skills, some might have just memorized it for the sake of examinations and therefore impromptu test should come in hand. If all these proposals are practiced the law enforcing professionals will be able to keep pace with the various changes while carrying out their duties.
