Medical Terminology

The  diabetic  patient  claims  that  she  occasionally  passes  urine  without  her  will   when  she  sneezes.  This  patient  doesn't  experience  pain  or  difficulties  while  urinating. She  experiences  excessive  urinating  at  night. She  passes  more  concentrated  urine  at  night  in  lower  amounts (Odiek , 2007).  She  doesn't   experience  infrequent  bowel  movements. 

She  does  sex  with  only  one  partner  and  uses  condoms  in  all  sexual  intercourses (Odiek , 2007).  Her  menstrual  cycles  experience  variations  of  less  than  eight  days  between  her  longest  cycles  and  her  shortest  cycles.  Her  last  menstrual  flow  came  two  weeks  ago.  She  doesn't    experience   tenderness/ high  sensitivity   on  both    sides   of  her  trunk  from  her  ribs  to  the  ileum . She  doesn't  experience  tenderness / high  sensitivity/ fragility   in  the  region  above  the  pubic  bone (Odiek , 2007) . Her  vasospasm (narrowing  of  vessels)  is  within  normal  limits. 

Tests   were   done  to  her  urine  and  no  blood   was  found  in  it. Rectal  digital  exam  show  no  problem  with  her  rectum. Tests  done  to  her  sexual  organ  show  no  problem  with  it (Odiek , 2007). Assessments  done  to  her  sensory  neuron  and  motor  responses  show  that  her  nervous  system  is  functioning  within  normal  limits  hence  its  ok.  She  is  forty  years  old  and  she  has  suffered  a  condition  that  makes  her  pass  urine  without  her  will  for  about  six  months  without  any   symptoms. She  didn't  mention  this  condition  the  last  times  she  visited  this  hospital  due  to  embarrassment . She  has  no  fever  and  she  doesn't  have  any  vague  feeling  of  discomfort  (Sandvik , 2005).  

Her  body  has  adequate  nutrients  hence adequate  energy   and  she  doesn't  experience  tenderness / high  sensitivity/ fragility   in  the  region  above  the  pubic  bone and  the  abdomen (Sandvik , 2005).  Tests  done  on  her  show  that  she  is  not  able  to  control  her  urinary  bladder  muscles   hence  urine  passes  without  her  will. She  has been  instructed  to  take  her  urine  to the  laboratory  so that  it's  chemical  contents  can  be  analyzed (Odiek , 2007). She  has  also  been  instructed  to  record  every  occurrence   of  un willful  passage  of urine  and  also  record  the  foods  and  drinks  she  takes  and  the  time  she  takes  them (Odiek , 2007).

She  has  been  instructed  to  take  exercises  involving  controlled  contraction  and  release  of  the  muscles  at  the  base  of  her  pelvis. She  has  also  been  instructed  to  visit the  clinic  again  after  two  weeks  so  that  her  bladder  pressure  can  be  measured (Odiek , 2007) .  To  interpret  the  above  clinical  information ,  research  involving  consulting  medical  doctors  and  researchers  was  done. This  research  went  as  far  as the  use of  medical  books. Medical  books  used  include  medical  abbreviations  book  to  get  the  meaning  of  the  abbreviations  used  in  the  fictional  soap. Medical  terminology  dictionary  has  been  also  very  resourceful. This  dictionary  has  helped  give  the  literal  meaning  to  the   medical  terms  used.  One  major  challenge  is  the  existence  of  synonymous  words  in  the  medical  books used. The  fact  that  different  words  have  different  meanings  in  different  contexts  has  also  been  a  challenge.  Lack  of  consistency  in  the  use of  abbreviations  has  also  been  a  challenge.  For  instance  "p" has  been  used  in  some  cases  to  refer  to  a  patient  and  in  other  cases  "pt"  has  been  used  to  refer  to  the  same  thing.
