Many people usually wonder the reason why any content they see as pornographic is not outlawed or simply removed completely from the internet. All the same, it may not actually be an easy effort. The law of the United States does not carry a lot of force with it in foreign countries where there is a great deal of that kind of material. Moreover, the display of this sexually explicit material is protected constitutionally. Thus, many people would want to know the manner in which the ‘pornography concept’ squares with the First Amendment. It is an issue that has troubled the government and other stakeholders. Based on such unrest, this essay asserts that pornography should not be regulated by the government.

Educators, politicians, parents, the U.S. Supreme Court and other adults who are concerned have struggled to institute the correct balance between the protection of free speech and laws established to restrain the spread of pornography. Regulation matters would require the regulator to showcase the kind of sexually explicit material that is protected and that which is not (National Academy of Sciences, par. 1-9). There are feelings held that, for the government to legalize pornography and make prostitution illegal, it would be at the same time legitimizing the selling of women’s sexuality by men.

The first amendment played a role trying to regulate pornography but was faced with challenges of differentiating adults from children at the pornography site on the internet.  The main controversy was that, the government could not reduce the adults to take on material that was fit for children. Thus, for the government to take on the task of regulating pornography, an imbalance would be created between the laws of regulation the rights of the adults. It is a subject that seems to brew more problems in trying to regulate it especially with the insurmountable expansion of the internet. Therefore, it would not be wise for the government to regulate pornography because it is impractical and an effort to do so would deprive adults off their rights.
