Firefighting is a service career, which needs a lot of strong personality accompanied with honesty, dedication, integrity, and professionalism. Dedication is a setting aside or devoting for any particular purpose or service; as, a dedication of fire fighters to the service. What dedication means to be a service man? It is not just a duty or service; accountability, privilege- it is the service, loyalty and the calling. Honesty refers to the act or state of being truthful. Honesty is a key character trait of a fireman. Being honest with yourself ensures that you take a realistic glance at whom you are. Especially, you take an account of your capabilities and abilities. Viewing oneself realistically will help maintain one and other fellow firefighters safe. It will facilitate one to go home after the end of the shift. A firefighter who is being sensible will know that putting at risk their life for little or no success is stupid (May, p. 1-2, 2007). If a fire fighter is realistic, he or she will know that putting self contained breathing equipment during overhaul will lengthen the life. Regardless of the motive, you will find yourself in circumstances where it would be very easy to steal something of worth; this call for honesty. Integrity refers to being trust worthy unlike famous professionals such as athletes and actors, when public wellbeing professionals end up in the headlines in a negative approach, people do not keep in mind their names; they remember the profession and city connected with these stories. Professionalism refers the conduct, goals, or qualities that mark or characterize a profession or a professional individual. As a firefighter, it is expected to act within the regulation and expectation.
