United States Intelligence Community

In the history of the Intelligence Community, the most surprising thing about the Intelligence Community is that it consists of agencies 16 agencies scattered within the United States. These agencies conduct their missions separately by conducting activities related to intelligence which are aimed at the conduct of foreign relations and the security of the United States. The cooperation consists of organizations of the Intelligence Community which are: the military and intelligence agencies. Besides these, there are also civilian and analysis intelligence offices which are situated within the federal executive departments thus the Intelligence Community is headed by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). All submission of reports are surrendered and/or reported to the President of the United States. Dana & William, 22-30.   

As an agency, the fact that there are numerous tasks in process that are in support of the 16 agencies is astonishing. The Washington post estimates the number of organizations working on counterterrorism, intelligence and homeland security to be at 1,271 organizations that are governmental, private companies estimated at 10,000. The intelligence Community has an estimated 854, 000 people who are licensed to top-secret clearances within the United States with these organizations adhering to specific functions as assigned Rosenbach, & Aki. 35-38.

The security of the United States is a priority thus these intelligence agencies have the responsibility to undertake orders which may be assigned at any one given time by the President. This is aimed at ensuring the risk of potential threat against the United States is at minimal heights. As a matter of fact, the Intelligence Community which is broad in terms of network is entitled to collect information that is necessary thus availing timely information to citizens despite their level of authority.
